Is this Dr. from Wash. U. in St. Louis? If so, that means he worked at Barnes-Jewish, which is one of the best hospitals in the country. Either way, it sounds like you are in excellent hands. I know Supe is apprehensive about messing with something that works, but when I read about your being able to maybe reverse some of the effects of his disease, I got a little tear in my eye. That's so exciting, and so promising! He may have to go through a period of some more pain than he's used to, but I agree with you; if it turns out that these new therapies can alleviate his pain so much, then that little bit at first would be worth it. Then again, that's easy for me to say. Good luck!

I am saying prayers for your whole family. I hope this new treatment works well. I, like you, believe in being optimistic.

Prednisone is a wonderdrug in some cases, however there are some side effects. It will make Supe puffy...it causes a great deal of water retention, it will also make him hot (not in the good way) even in the freezing MN winters he will want to have the air conditioning on. It will also make him hungry for meat all the time. And lastly it will make him cranky. Now I know the benefits outweigh the side effects...but those are some of the side effects that Drs. sometimes neglect to mention.

Wow. I'll add Belle and her mom to our list of precious ones.
