I know how it feels to feel self-conscious doing athletic things in public. It was hard for me to go to the gym but then I got the decision that hey, at least I am trying to do something about it and if people have a problem with me being there, then they can go eat a twinkie. As for doing athletics, I say, Go for it.

People tend to think that I'm in shape - that I work out. I have somewhat broad shoulders and excellent posture which seems to hide my slightly bulging belly. But I'm actually quite non-athletic. I have a friend who weighs in a bit over the 400 lb mark. People tend to think he can't do anything. We compete at racquetball, softball, volleyball - he wins almost every time. Not only do I think he should continue to be active in sports, I learn from him every time we play.

Life is for experiencing every thing you can. People who are caught up in someone else's body structure waste time creating negativity and have missed the message of joy.

The thing is, people are catty, period. It doesn't matter what you look like, they will always have something to say about you. The fact of the matter is that it's their problem; they are always comparing themselves to others. I'm fat, and I was going through pictures the other day and I found a bunch of me dancing in the ugly unflattering dress I had to wear as a bridesmaid in my cousin's wedding. I chuckled, because people were probably whispering about what a giant lavender cow I looked like, but I didn't care. I love to dance, and I would never dream of giving it up because some people want to talk about me. Let it be a waste of their time.
